Just like the DMC-1 and MMC-1, the MMR-1 receiver also features 8-channel pure analog inputs for SACD and DVD-A sources. Dolby Pro Logic IIx turns your 2-channel sources into 5.1/6.1/7.1. rounding out the feature set. You can choose between RCA analog preamp outputs or the built in 125 watts x 7 of digital amplification.

Did we tell you about Side-Axis? These two additional channels are matrixed and derived from the front left and right channels so they are available in stereo as well as surround modes. You place the speakers between your main and surround speakers along the side walls. When engaged, the side axis feature delivers an amazingly large soundstage that you must hear to believe. Additional features include video up conversion; this allows you to run all your composite, S-Video and component sources to the DMR-1 and output it all on a single component video cable.

The DMR-1 has three 100MHz component inputs and the OSD (on-screen display) is available over component too. Much like the DMC-1, external HDMI switching can be done with the use of theincluded HSM-2 which supports 2 HDMI inputs and a single HDMI output. Of course the HDMI switcher supports DDWG standards for HDMI compliant monitors as well as HDCP compliant devices, which means that you will always be viewing the highest resolution, most natural video signal that is possible.

The DMR-1 also features three additional single-ended (RCA) subwoofer outputs, a phono input and Analog Devices 24/192 DAC's. For those that want to install some outdoor speakers or feed a two channel system in another room, the DMR-1 will allow you to play two independent sources simultaneously. The front panel display allows you to rename all the inputs (such as changing ‘Vid 1’ to PS2) so source selection is easy and intuitive.
