"...The sound has more authority to it.
For instance, the bass is tighter, kick drums have more kick, and the pluck of upright bass strings have more “pluckiness.”
Other differences include greater refinement which offers a bit more detail and clarity. It is as though a thin layer of skin has been peeled back from my CDs to reveal more music embedded on them..."

from Adam B., XPA-5 owner:
On classical listening:
"The first thing I noticed was that The XPA is lightning fast. It kept up beautifully with the ridiculously fast (pace) of so many orchestral instruments rising and falling at the same time.
...the soundstage of the XPA had me saying, "We're going to need a bigger boat". It not only extends BEYOND the speakers, it is completely enveloping. The cello was front stage, deep right center while the violin hit me on the left side of the head and near the ceiling. I was amazed at the headroom. True 3 dimensional imaging. An amazing perception.
On jazz listening:
"The piano came from very deep within the room, actually at my sides and behind me! And very accurately I might add. The Piano sounded...well, like a piano. A live piano in the room with me."
"The warm sound of the XPA (I've found that the Class A/B amps are definitely warmer than the Class H) delivered a sound that made you want to turn it up and sit back and get comfortable."
On rock music listening:
"The XPA wants to show you how good "loud" can sound. ...I was listening at a level I hadn't listened to before, and didn't feel any fatigue at all."
"(The) SPL meter read 86-93. I wanted to stop there, but the XPA threw me down in the seat and begged to go louder. I listened to the remaining tracks at a level never experienced before in my theater. Never once did the XPA lose composure. In fact, It wanted to keep going!"
"The 450WPC beast laughs at 98-102 Db. Just when I thought I'd had enough, the XPA dared me to go louder. I found myself listening at mind blowing SPLs." |
