USING THE RPA-2 12 VOLT TRIGGER
Inside the RPA-2's inner packing box, you will find a small plastic envelope containing a two position terminal block. This plugs into the 12 volt trigger input on the back of the RPA-2 as shown in the photo to the left. (more photos below)
As seen here, the top input on the block is the negative input, and the bottom input is the positive input.
A 12 Volt trigger cable is included with the RSP-2, inside the plastic bag containing the owner's manual. One end of this cable terminates in a 3.5 mm (or 1/8th") audio connector. This plugs into the trigger output connection on the back of the RSP-2 preamp (or other preamp, if applicable). The other end of the cable terminates in two individually wrapped wires. The white wrapped wire is the positive connection, and the black black wrapped wire is the negative connection.
(If you do not have an RSP-2 and are using another preamp, check the connection on the back of the preamp to see if the connection is for positive/negative bare wire, or the 3.5mm plug).
After first plugging the terminal block into the RPA-2 to determine proper orientation and ensure which input is positive and which input is negative, unplug it and insert the corresponding positive and negative wires from the 12 Volt trigger, tightening the small screws on the terminal block to securely keep them in place.
When you have finished tighthening the screws and made sure the wires are firmly attached, plug the terminal block end into the RPA-2, and the 3.5 mm jack end into the RSP-2. Above the terminal block input on the RPA-2 is a 3 position selector switch. Make sure this switch is in the bottom position, labled 'TRIGGER'.
3-POSITION SELECTOR SWITCH
In the top position, labeled 'ON', the amplifier will only power up manually, by pressing the power button on the faceplate.
In the middle position, labled 'SIGNAL', the amplifier will power up when it detects an audio signal, either through the RCA inputs, or XLR (balanced) inputs.
In the bottom position, labled 'TRIGGER', the amplifier will only power on when the 12 Volt trigger in place. |
